Seabird monitoring coordinated in Brittany by OROM and in France by GISOM (French seabird group)
A seabird monitoring programme has been launched in Brittany (western France) in 2009, with different partners involved in collating data on breeding numbers and productivity for the different seabird species. At the national scale, such coordinated annual monitoring does not exist at the moment but decadal seabird censuses are coordinated by the Gisom (French seabird group) and guidelines were compiled and disseminated on standardized monitoring methods. A preliminary work has also been carried out in 2012 to develop an indicator of seabird population trends. |
